JOB VACANCY

TITLE:  CONFIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO POLICE DEPARTMENT

APPOINTMENT TYPE/CLASS: Full Time, Exempt Class.

WORK WEEK/HOURS PER WEEK:  Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.

POSTING DATE:  14 December 2018

DESCRIPTION:  The work involves responsibility for the performance of a variety of confidential functions for the Port Jervis Police Department.  This is a position of special trust and confidence having access to and requiring exchange of sensitive and confidential information.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Good knowledge of administrative techniques and procedures, ability to handle administrative details independently, ability to type not less than 35 words per minute and operate all office related equipment including computers, ability to carry out complex oral and written directions, ability to deal effectively with people and situations and adopt an effective course of action, accuracy, resourcefulness and initiative.  Must have a neat personal appearance.

A strong working knowledge of social media platforms, Microsoft office applications, word, excel and PowerPoint.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidate must be a high school graduate or possess an equivalency diploma and three (3) years of secretarial experience or an Associate’s Degree and one (1) year experience.
