What Motorists Should Know about the 2025 Fireman’s Day Parade
Port Jervis’ 167th Annual Fireman’s Day Parade, the longest-running in the United States, is Saturday, July 12 and kicks off at 2:00pm. Like the rest of our community, we at PJPD are looking forward to this beloved Port Jervis tradition. To help it run as smoothly as possible, however, we ask motorists to be aware of the parade route and corresponding detours.
The parade will include several fire companies, totaling 400-500 participants and related fire apparatus. Roadways comprising the parade route will be closed from approximately 1:45 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Portions of the roadway may be reopened before 4:00 p.m. as the end of the parade clears. All other major roads will remain open to vehicular traffic.
The parade route will be closed in its entirety during the event, with the exception of the intersection of E. Main St. and Fowler St. / Kingston Ave. A Police Officer will be posted there to allow traffic to flow onto Fowler St. and east-bound E. Main St.
The 2025 parade route will be as follows:
- Starts at the Port Jervis High School Parking Lot – 10 U.S. Route 209
- Proceeds west-bound on Hamilton St.
- Turns left onto south-bound Kingston Ave. (U.S. Route 209)
- Turns right onto west-bound East Main St. (U.S. Route 6 and 209)
- Turns left onto south-bound Pike St. (U.S. Route 209)
- Turns left onto east-bound Front St.
- Proceeds on Front St., which then turns into Jersey Ave.
- Parade ends on Jersey Ave. at Fowler St.
Our goal is to keep cars and trucks out of Port Jervis during parade hours to the greatest extent possible. Residents are encouraged to plan travel accordingly, giving themselves adequate time to account for the detours at each road closure. If possible, plan to run errands before/after the parade.
We look forward to yet another successful Fireman’s Day Parade and to seeing our neighbors there!
