Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program Graduation

Press Release- 29 May 2018:  Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program Graduation- PJCSD Anna S. Kuhl  Elementary School 2018.

Congratulations to DARE Officer Nicole McGowan and the 5th grade students at ASK Elementary School for completing the ten week Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program.

D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches our 5th graders life lessons and valuable tools to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. DARE Officer McGowan spent 10 weeks with each 5th grade class teaching students these lifelong skills to help them lead safe and healthy lives.

D.A.R.E. is the bridge to building trust and positive community-police relations offering students the opportunity to gain a trustworthy role model, develop a positive attitude toward law enforcement personnel, and acquire greater respect for the law. After the completion of today’s ceremony, the graduates were treated to a picnic and afternoon of fun, games and music by DJ G Entertainment!

The DARE Program provided at the Port Jervis City School District is a  nationally recognized prevention education program provided by the Port Jervis Police Department for 5th grade district students at ASK Elementary School and by DARE Officer Frank McGrath of the Town of Deerpark Police Department for 5th grade students at Hamilton Bicentennial Elementary School who graduated the program earlier this year.  DARE is truly a successful collaboration of the, Port Jervis City School District, the Town of Deerpark, the City of Port Jervis and our community sponsors.
