Multiple Shootings – City of Port Jervis

On September 21st at approximately 2042 hrs, Port Jervis City Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired with possible victims located at the intersection of Barcelow Street and Seward Avenue located in the City’s 4th Ward. Officers arrived at the scene and learned that two 16 year old males were shot by a pistol during a disturbance with one male suffering a serious gunshot wound to the lower back and the second male suffering a gunshot wound to the arm. Both teens were transported to Bon Secours Community Hospital for emergency treatment. The teen who was shot in the back required emergency surgery and is in stable condition. The second teen suffering from a gun shot wound to his arm required emergency medical treatment is in stable condition. Member of the Port Jervis Police Department were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police and the Town of Deerpark Police Department.

At approximately 11:30pm while members of the Port Jervis Police Department and New York State Police were processing the crime scene located at the intersection of Barcelow Street and Seward Avenue, officers heard multiple shots fired within close range of their vicinity and subsequently received multiple reports of shots fired on Hammond Street located two blocks from the initial crime scene. A subsequent investigation revealed that multiple gunshots were fired into the front living room window of a residence located on Hammond Street in the City’s 4th Ward neighborhood. The occupants inside the residence were not injured during this incident.

A team of Port Jervis City Police Officers, members of the New York State Police, Town of Deerpark Police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident.
