Arrest made in attempted robbery of local store
On October 1, 2018, Port Jervis Police arrested David Strobeck, age 32, of Port Jervis and charged him with Attempted Robbery in the 2nd Degree (felony) and Assault in the 3rd Degree (Misdemeanor).
The defendant is accused of entering a business establishment located at 80 Front Street in the City of Port Jervis at approximately 9:46am on October 1, 2018 and assaulting a store employee while attempting to open and steal the contents of the establishment’s cash drawer.
The defendant fled the scene after near-by store owners disrupted the robbery attempt. The victim was transported to Bon Secour Community Hospital for treatment and is recovering from the injuries sustained during this assault.
A search of the area by City Police Officers assisted by members of the Town of Deerpark Police Department resulted in the apprehension of the defendant in the City of Port Jervis at approximately 11:30am
The defendant was arraigned in Port Jervis City Court by City Court Judge Matthew Witherow and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail pending evaluation by an Orange County Grand Jury.
