Investigation into Reported Gun Shots Fired

On April 4, 2020 at approximately 10:45pm, Port Jervis City Police Officers responded to Ball Street on a section located between the intersections with Seward Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue in the City of Port Jervis for a report of multiple gunshots being fired.

An investigation into the incident revealed that the suspect emerged from an adjacent yard and discharged multiple rounds from a handgun at a Port Jervis male while he was standing outside of a residence on Ball Street. The victim sought cover inside the residence and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Port Jervis Police Officers with the assistance of New York State Police Officers and a Canine Unit deployed from the Greenville Barracks subsequently searched the surrounding neighborhoods located in the 4th Ward section of the City for the suspect.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

City Police Detectives were interviewing witnesses and processing the scene during the overnight and no arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is on-going by City of Port Jervis Police Detectives.
